John Patrick Schmidt, 54, of Cape Coral died Sept. 16, 2002. Mr. Schmidt was born July 13, 1948 in Chicago, IL., a son of the late Harold and Regina O'Connor Schmidt.
John was a retired Social Worker for the Dept. of Children and Family Services in Lee and Charlotte Co. He attended the US Naval Academy from 1966-1967 and received a Bachelor's Degree from Southern Illinois University. He also worked for the Shriner's Foundation from 1999-2001. He had resided here since 1983 coming from Tinley Park, IL.
He is survived by his son, John W. Schmidt of Ft. Myers, FL and a daughter, Kimberly Murray of Colorado. His former wife, Diane Schmidt of Cape Coral, FL; his brother, Robert Schmidt of Chicago, IL and his sister, Lori Godette of Tinley Park, IL.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. at Coral Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Coral Ridge Cemetery.
